Leadership

God made some of His people to be leaders.

Sure, in some capacity we all are. But all of us are called to obey the Lord and give Him everything that we have in response to what He has done for us.

At the same time, God anoints certain men and women to lead the people of God into the future and into everything He has prepared for them.

Christ knew His people needed leaders. He knew His people needed shepherds.

"Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the crowds, he was moved with compassion for them, because they fainted and were scattered, like sheep without a shepherd" (Matt. 9:35-36).

You are following the Lord, even as others in the body of Christ are following you. That seems simple enough.

So what is the critical leadership mistake you never want to make?

Leaders have vision. Leaders have direction. Leaders have motivation. Leaders have drive. Leaders press through. Leaders look ahead more than they do to the moment.

But leaders also sometimes assume that everyone else thinks like them. The truth of the matter is this: Most people don't.

Most people don't, and that's ok. But it can be a critical mistake when leaders begin thinking they don't need to explain in more detail because the people they are leading "will figure it out."

Clarity is kindness, and as leaders, it is up to us to do the hard work and clarify our directives and our mission for those we lead.

Christ knew His people needed shepherds, and you answered that call.

Remember it—and lead your people into greener pastures!
