Why Every Pastor Should Have a Copy of 'Jezebel's War With America'

Dr. Michael Brown (Hamilton Strategies)

On the day of the launch of his new book, Jezebel's War with America: The Plot to Destroy Our Country and What We Can Do to Turn the Tide, author and national radio host Dr. Michael Brown spoke with another nationally syndicated radio host, Dan Celia, about how the evil spirit of a queen who lived 3,000 years ago is still at work today.

Celia, who hosts his daily, three-hour program "Financial Issues" on more than 650 stations, welcomed Brown to the show earlier this month, when the biblical stewardship authority declared that every pastor in America should have a copy of Jezebel's War with America.

Brown's new book, which is creating buzz and initiating important conversations, details how the evil spirit of the biblical figure Queen Jezebel is alive and well today.

"I've written 35 books over my career, and this book has struck a nerve," Brown said during the interview. "Jezebel is being exposed, and sometimes when we simply say the title of the book, Jezebel's War with America, people nod; they understand. We are in a spiritual war. Yes, we have to be responsible for our actions and deeds, but there is an intense spiritual war. And once we begin to identify the symptoms of this Jezebel-like attack, then we can adequately expose and defeat this false spirit."

As Celia read the book and learned more about the incredibly wicked Queen Jezebel—who led her nation into idolatry, emasculated her husband, was associated with sexual immorality with sorcery, murdered and was obviously demonically empowered—he saw the need for every pastor and church leader to have a copy of the book and address this spiritual war from the pulpit.

"Jezebel's War with America already opened as No. 1 bestseller [in its category]," Celia said on the show. "Everybody needs to have more than one of these books—give it to your pastor. Give to somebody who used to be bold but maybe isn't bold anymore, maybe not standing firm. Give them the book and remind them how important it is. We're fighting a battle for our church, but we are not defeated. According to Paul, the Romans say even in the midst of intense persecution, we are more than conquerors. That spirit of the conqueror—confidence in God—needs to rise up because Jezebel has met her match. Dr. Brown's new book is a tool. It is ammunition for all of us who are in this battle."

Brown also added that in the midst of this spiritual battle, so few Christian leaders are willing to stand up and address controversial issues.

"So few believers are willing to be heard on these matters because they don't want to be excommunicated or cast out," Brown said. "Pastors don't want to be mocked or lose their tithing members. We are paralyzed by fear. We need to look Jezebel in the face and say, 'You're coming down in Jesus' name.' Jezebel was one of the most wicked women in all of the Bible. And now it's time that her spirit is destroyed."

These fearful pastors are not alone, Brown also noted. For instance, the mighty prophet Elijah was one of the greatest men of God in history. But he also ran from Jezebel because of fear.

"The prophets who were supposed to be speaking to Israel were hiding in caves fearing for their lives," Brown said. "There's something about this demonic power that paralyzes people with fear, and it paralyzes those who are supposed to be prophetic voices, those pastors and leaders. And that means that, churches, we need to be praying for our leaders to be bold and strong because there is so much intimidation coming against them. Metaphorically speaking, we are able to wear God's own armor and fight with his weapons. America is in great pain. Our only hope is the Lord."

Dr. Michael L. Brown is founder and president of AskDrBrown Ministries and president of FIRE School of Ministry. The author of more than 35 books, including Saving a Sick America (2017), he is also the host of the nationally syndicated daily talk radio show "The Line of Fire," as well as the host of shows on GOD TV, NRBTV and METV. His syndicated columns appear on many leading websites, and his scholarly publications range from biblical commentaries to articles in Semitic journals and theological dictionaries. He has served as an adjunct or visiting professor at seven leading seminaries and has debated gay activists, agnostic professors and Orthodox rabbis on university campuses.
