Having served for 25 years as pastor of Westminster Chapel in London, R.T. Kendall is the author of numerous books, including the bestseller, Total Forgiveness.
Four years ago, just prior to retiring, Kendall recalls that he imagined himself spending his retirement fishing in the Florida Keys, since he was little known in the United States--his native country.
"Out of the blue I heard the Lord speak in a manner that does not happen to me every day," he says. " 'Your ministry in America will be to charismatics,' God said."
To this point, Kendall had devoted himself to ministering to evangelicals. "My heart's desire and prayer to God for evangelicals is that they might become very open to the Holy Spirit," he says. "If God would grant me a platform it would be to reach sound, solid--and sometimes scholarly--evangelicals and reformed church leaders who honestly do not know what they are missing by their dismissing the immediate and direct witness of the Holy Spirit out of hand."
Kendall describes his calling in terms of Paul's. "Who was more qualified to reach the Jews?" he asks. "It was Paul, but God sent him to the gentiles." Similarily, Kendall sees himself as more qualified to reach evangelicals, who would recognize his academic credentials and accept him.
But his passion is to see the charismatic/Pentecostal movement---and the wider evangelical world--embrace both the Word of God and the Spirit of God. A self-described Calvinist, Kendall exemplifies a commitment both to solid scholarship and supernatural experience.
A native of Kentucky, Kendall holds degrees from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Oxford University.
John Paul Jackson: A friend and fellow conference speaker with R.T. Kendall, John Paul Jackson is founder of Streams Ministries in North Sutton, New Hampshire. He served as senior pastor of two churches and he has also served on the pastoral staff at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Anaheim, California (with John Wimber), and at Metro Christian Fellowship in Kansas City, Missouri (with Mike Bickle).
Gary B. McGee: Known for his study in the history of Pentecostal missions and missiology, McGee is professor of church history and Pentecostal studies at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, Missouri. McGee holds a Ph.D. from Saint Louis University.
Fuchsia Pickett: Described by many as a "revelatory teacher," Fuchsia Pickett served as a teacher and spiritual mother for more than 50 years. Ordained as a Methodist minister, Pickett pursued an active teaching ministry until an illness nearly took her life. Miraculously healed and introduced to the Pentecostal experience, Pickett taught and ministered around the world. She is the author of numerous books, including Receiving Divine Revelation and, her life story, Stones of Remembrance. Pickett passed away January 30, after a long illness, but the impact of her teaching will continue to bear fruit in the lives of the many she touched.
