Well written David. Love your perspective and completely agree. As a youth pastor my heart hurts for the students that have broken hearts due to false expectations. The media glorifies all that is corrupt. Not only as pastors, but fathers and mothers, we need to step up to the plate. Too many times we let those in ministry teach our children right from wrong instead of doing it ourselves. As a new father to a precious daughter, I want to set the standard of excellence in relationships. It starts with me and my wife Chelsea. If I treat my wife the way she should be treated, love her the way Christ loves the church, then in the future our daughter will hopefully want a man in her life that does the same. Great perspective. Love it.

This is a great article and it gives people/parents something to think about. But as for myself, I have an entirely different opinion. For me, I grew up on Disney movies. They were something fun added to my childhood. I watched them, sang them, and enjoyed them. But I also grew up in a Christian household where we read the Bible every morning, only played Christian music, and attended church twice a week. I can honestly say it has never affected me or my views on relationships/marriage. I think that we should stop bashing Disney. Why don't we bash the REAL things that are affecting our kids daily - at school, during our students' reading time or on their iPods? Like, the Twilight series. I have never seen a downfall in young women like I have ever since that series. Girls wrapped up in the fantasy that they'll meet a man whose like Edward (the superman+heman+jesus vampire) who'll never fail them and have the "perfect looks/body" and live happily ever after. Just my opinion.
