Driscoll Calls Christians to ‘Go and Die’

QUOTE: "At some point, to be a Christian you have to transition from ‘come and see’ to ‘go and die.’ That is, you just can’t watch people walk with Jesus; you have to walk with them. You can’t just allow other people to serve you; you need to serve as well… When people start giving their lives to the cause of the gospel, all of those who were playing church stop playing." —Mark Driscoll, pastor of Mars Hill Church, preaching from Luke 6:12-19 on Sunday. Driscoll used examples from the lives of 11 of the disciples, who all suffered intensely or were martyred for their faiths. [marshillchurch.org, 4/11/10]

Amen, preach it Mark.
Who and which "church" said the Christian walk was going to be rich, prosperous, good health, long living and not having to die for your faith.
I can assure you there are many of our Christians brothers and sisters that are suffering and dying for their belief in Jesus right now.
Look at the some of the heroes of the faith David Livingstone, William Carey, Hudson Taylor, Nat Saint, Jim Elliot, Ed McCully
Church wake up, wait until things start to happen in our "safe" countries. Are you going to continue playing or get it together and Stand for Jesus.

Excellent remarks from Mark! A recent poll of Christians as to why they leave one church for another reveals that people want to feel loved and accepted by the pastors and staff. The Bible says that Jesus loved His disciples and He loved them until the end. True pastors/ministers love their disciples and walk among them as Jesus did. A pastoral 'elite' is made up of those who are preachers only, not ministers, shepherds, or pastors, no matter what they call themselves.
