Lakeland Outpouring: One Year Later

QUOTE: "I don't understand why anyone in their right mind would ever give Todd Bentley a platform again. I believe in redemption, but for some things you forever forfeit your public ministry. This man has proven by his lifestyle to be who he is, and our churches shouldn't be using him, period." —Assemblies of God General Superintendent George O. Wood, commenting on what in many charismatic circles has been one of the most divisive issues in the past year. Bentley left the Lakeland Outpouring last August amid scandal and—in fewer than 12 months—divorced, remarried, entered into a restoration process with Rick Joyner and relaunched his public ministry. I know the hotel and the cost and the fact that Benny never stays in anything less than a suite, no one said that they stayed in the same room, this story is not over, the truth will come out.

Benny first said that Paula White was in Italy on her own mission, now he says he invited her to come with him to the Vatican, no matter what you and I think of the press they have a photo of Benny and Paula walking along holding hands, just tell the truth.

@tomwinfield, You actually believe Benny and Paula say that nothing happened?

If you believe that, I have this neat bridge in Brooklyn NY for sale, cheap. Hey, you can pay in CDN funds too.

Why were they holding hands? I don't hold hands like that with my women friends. My wife would be offended and so would my friends.

Maybe the reason why we act they way we do and make excuses for these people is because we do what they do and so we don't feel convicted about our own lives, when Ray McCauley divorced it opened the flood gates in South Adrica and hundreds of couples have followed using him and Lyndie and him and Zelda as an excuse, but there will come a day.

I read all this with shame, no wonder the world looks at us the way they do, you Charismatics are an embarrassment to the church world, you run after anyone and anything that makes a loud noise and fake miracles, hear we go again Benny Hinn with his new girl friend still married and asking his people (most of you) for $2million to pay his bills the hotel he and Paula White stayed in was $3500 a night, God have mercy on us

Having watched hours of clips from Todd's preaching, I would say that his theology and antics precluded him from ministry long before his moral failings. We can forgive immorality; but not his ridiculous doctrines for which he has never recanted.

@wim, Oh, shut your own mouth.

You DO NOT know your Bible, nor what it says about sin. You belong to a touchy-feely generation who COMPROMISES rather then stand on the Word of God.

Repent before it's too late.

Its wonderful to abide in Love. However, Jesus was the first to speak to the hypocrisy and immorality of the religious world that surrounded him. The publicans and sinners he sat with as a doorway to redemption, not to condone and encourage them in their sin.
Public Christianity, TV, Radio, has lost the right to represent those who want to live in Gods grace, without trying to be a Holywood star at the same time. We have lost sight of simple bible believing life style and morality and exchanged it for a "mess of pottate", the adulation and recognition of those who want their Christianity continually sensationalized.
Whlst we cannot be a substitute for the Holy Spirit , but we do need to have discernment as to those who labour amongst us, and expect from them a code of conduct that does not trample on biblical rithteousness

I think I just read in Rev 5: this morning that there was noone worthy to open the seals of the book of jugement that was sealed with the 7 seals nor look upon it nor read it..Except the one that bare the sins of the world the lamb that was slain.Jesus will judge all one day and is very capable of shaking the whole earth as he will and is doing.Lets let him shake the church.I think he is the one also that said...He who is without sin cast the first stone.I say this today. He who has not sinned cast the first stone.I have to walk away just as the accuser did.I have sinned and though it is not visable to the eye,it was visable to God.I do not condone sin.I do however believe the people that listen to the Spirit ,a stranger they will not follow. The word is light and will shine in the darkness to light the path.Jesus said they will know you are mine by the way you love one another.Let us abide in love . :sigh:

We have to do something about the rot in the church, we have lost the moral high ground, now we have Benny Hinn, Ray McCauley for the second time, Ray Bevan, Ted Haggard, Paula White, how many more names do you want.

We forgive them all but they are disqualified from the ministry, go and do something else, are you telling me that God is so desperate that he has to use these ungodly people and cannot find one person out of the thousands of honest God fearing people in churches around the world.

Let's keep divorce, adultery, homosexual sin out of the pulpit, do the right thing and go away, resign.

Most of this has started since the explosion of Christian TV starting with the Bakkers, we started acting like Hollywood and that's what we got in return.
