While I agree that this generation is in trouble: 4% Christian with no distinguishing characteristics between believers and non-believers, the real reasons for the problems are 2 fold: 1. In our youth culture, although one-on-one discipleship WOULD greatly help our youth, the real problem is that our youth are NOT ENCOUNTERING God... We give them inspiration (which is hype a lot of times), and information (teaching), but they don't have revelation of who God is! 2. We start WAY too late! The way to have an onfire teenager is to reach them when they are 6 years old! We have babysat our kids with crafts, snack and story time instead of introducing them to the presence and power of God and teaching them to hear His voice! If you want a Jesus focused youth ministry, you must start with a Jesus focused Children's church AND we must let our young ones encounter God in a way that radically changes their lives! They must know His voice and love HIs presence!
