Its wonderful to abide in Love. However, Jesus was the first to speak to the hypocrisy and immorality of the religious world that surrounded him. The publicans and sinners he sat with as a doorway to redemption, not to condone and encourage them in their sin. Public Christianity, TV, Radio, has lost the right to represent those who want to live in Gods grace, without trying to be a Holywood star at the same time. We have lost sight of simple bible believing life style and morality and exchanged it for a "mess of pottate", the adulation and recognition of those who want their Christianity continually sensationalized. Whlst we cannot be a substitute for the Holy Spirit , but we do need to have discernment as to those who labour amongst us, and expect from them a code of conduct that does not trample on biblical rithteousness

I think I just read in Rev 5: this morning that there was noone worthy to open the seals of the book of jugement that was sealed with the 7 seals nor look upon it nor read it..Except the one that bare the sins of the world the lamb that was slain.Jesus will judge all one day and is very capable of shaking the whole earth as he will and is doing.Lets let him shake the church.I think he is the one also that said...He who is without sin cast the first stone.I say this today. He who has not sinned cast the first stone.I have to walk away just as the accuser did.I have sinned and though it is not visable to the eye,it was visable to God.I do not condone sin.I do however believe the people that listen to the Spirit ,a stranger they will not follow. The word is light and will shine in the darkness to light the path.Jesus said they will know you are mine by the way you love one another.Let us abide in love . :sigh:

We have to do something about the rot in the church, we have lost the moral high ground, now we have Benny Hinn, Ray McCauley for the second time, Ray Bevan, Ted Haggard, Paula White, how many more names do you want. We forgive them all but they are disqualified from the ministry, go and do something else, are you telling me that God is so desperate that he has to use these ungodly people and cannot find one person out of the thousands of honest God fearing people in churches around the world. Let's keep divorce, adultery, homosexual sin out of the pulpit, do the right thing and go away, resign. Most of this has started since the explosion of Christian TV starting with the Bakkers, we started acting like Hollywood and that's what we got in return.

Throughout everything I have read - there hasn't been one word about the well-being, or words of sympathy for, the wife who bore his children ,or the children themselves. I guess Todd is so annointed that we can be non-judgmental and just throw them aside as he did. Truly, the church is in trouble. We let anyone get up and preach in the name of not judging. We will judge ourselves right out of credibility. As many people I know from work read the newspaper and say "the people in the church are no different than the ones outside of it. You have lots, not a few, drunks, adulterers, divorced, children born out of wedlock, and abortions--you are not different from us because you "forgive" and accept it as ok too". We have lost credibility with the world because we let everything slide so as not to judge, and brought sname to Jesus's name rather than bringing glory to Him.

This defense of Todd Bentley is almost laughable. Yeah, Jesus had meals with some questionable people, but He didn't make them His New Best Friends! He shared the gospel and went on His way. Lakeland, the revial, was annointed by God, not Todd Bentley. I beleve that Roy was the annointed one. Most people were healed before they came in front of Todd and most he laid hands on weren't healed at all. While the saints were out front worshipping and praising God, Todd was in the back counting money, drinking, and messing around with his mistress.

My last name reflects what one shouldn't throw at someone when living in a glass house of mirrors. George Wood barely escaped divorce when in So. California and while converting his family over to calvinisms as a AG co-pastor then after manuevering the wives as incapatible became the head pastor (sending the original pastor and his wife away toward their divorce soon thereafter). Politics as usual begats becoming eventually both a lawyer and then general superintendent of AG. Why should AG politics keep throwing out 'stones' when they as leaders don't even have it all together. Divorce is NOT the end all to ministry, but in AG it almost cost George and others their political religious career

Sozo, you and many, many others pick verses to defend your belief's BUT you do it at the expense of truth. YOU do not look at the whole Bible to get the whole picture of God's view of Todd's sin. Almost no one does. It seems that God's judgment of IGNORANCE for disobeying a command has filled the church at large. When God commanded how church meetings were to be in 1 Cor. 14:37-38, Paul clearly stated it's God's command. Failure to obey leaves one in a state of ignorance (of God's will?). THAT would greatly explain the church the last 1,700+ years including thugs & murderers like Zwigli, Calvin and Luthor, etc. "37If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. 38But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant."

There sure is a lot of judgment going on in the body of Christ and not nearly enough of God's love we should be demonstrating at all times. I don't agree with what Todd did, but God will deal with him as He sees fit and I'm certain that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will restore Todd completely, just as He has restored all of us when we have fallen. So who am I (and who are you) to step in and play judge in the place of God? Control your tongues, for they speak evil. So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty. For judgement will be merciless to those who have show no mercy: Mercy triumphs over judgment. James 2:12-13

"Ungodly behavior" - I am sorry, did you listen to any of the words and worship from the outpouring or are you just commentining on news. I pray that the Holy Spirit come to you and empower you with heavenly truth, so that you see past the worldly lies and look for the seeds that God has planted. Look to His works (that would be God's works not Todd's), and see if you find fruit. Stop trying to judge how God chooses to release revelation and look to His messages. I, my family, and my church (a CHurch of God denomination) have all been on fire for God and seeing fruits from those Lakeland days.

That would be a lie from the devil. I am a fruit. My wife is a fruit. My children, ages 17,12, and even 4. My friends area fruit. and yes, even my church was changed. I went to the outpouring in person, with my family, and friends. We felt the presence of God - not Todd Bently. We received REVIVAL and REVELATION. We went back to our home church and changed it, empowered it, and shared the seeds that God has planted. TODAY we are even more on fire for revival than ever. All because of the Lakeland Outpouring - not Todd Bentley. So go ahead and kick God's seed to the roadside, wait for your reward. Look at the seeds and not blog's or hearsay. Stop being a gossiper. Look for GOd's truth, not man's.

It amazes me sometimes how much us Christians judges and act just like the world we live in. Do you dare judge the seeds that God planted? Do you, as Christians, dare to kick them to the roadside? I challenge any one who doubts this outpouring of God to go look at the seeds NOW that were planted a year ago. I did not say, go to the sower, I said go to the seeds. Go to some of the 100's of thousands who attended those nights in the tents in Lakeland and see the impact. I, my family, and some close friends were some of those who watched on God TV nightly and were so moved by God, that we went to Lakeland to experience it for ourselves. Every one of us today are ON FIRE FOR GOD and have been forever changed by HIS presense that we felt at the meetings - that is Jehovah God, Jesus Christ - not Todd Bentley. GO LOOK AT THE SEEDS PLANTED and look for God's truth in this, not man's.

Read you bible sir especially the part where Jesus is explaining to Peter the rules of forgiveness. I guess your position with Assembly of God was an elective position and not based on you living according to the scriptures. Todd needs healing ... quote] "Sojourner truth", Obviously you know nothing about George O Wood. He was my pastor from 1980 for about 12 years. He lives by the Biblical definition of a minister. He lives above reproach. He understands and practices forgiveness. He has earned his place as the leader of the AG denomination. He is also not afraid to approach hard subjects with truth and honesty. He has earned my respect, and I listen carefully to his admonitions as they are well thought out and prayed about before he makes them public. Be careful how you malign a true man of GOD.

Preacher Fred, King David was not a preacher by any stretch of the word. He was anointed by God to be the King over Israel. He was rebuked by the Prophet for his transgressions and David TRULY REPENTED! But he was never a priest or a preacher! Samson was Judge who was given supernatural physical powers but when he went too far, even for God, his appointment to be a judge over Israel ended. His last act for God's Kingdom was done in total submission and dedication to destroy evil. God allowed this to be done but when there is so much doubt among born again believers, filled with the Holy Spirit, even you should realize it is because there is much doubt Todd Bentley is sincere in his repentance. Only God knows Todd's heart and it will be up to God to judge him. We don't need another glory seeker in the pulpits of the world. We need the Truth of God's Word preached without limits.

God, in the Bible, holds ministers to strict accountability. Forgiveness, yes, if they truly repent, and are not just sorry because they were exposed. Restitution, yes, if their sins will allow it, and depending on just how much they have truly changed. Otherwise, you loose them again on a naieve public in the name of Jesus. Charisma Online reported Todd Bentley is back in ministry now. Did you know that? Rick Joyner, loved by many, hurts himself by so fully supporting Todd, who dumped his wife and kids to get a girl he wants. Where was Restitution for them? Where was Restitution for all those Believers who got a stake driven through their heart by what Bently did? Do you know that Jesus says that only ministers who do His Father's will can enter into Heaven? They need to read Matthew 7:21-22 at least once a week. Building Christ's Kingdom is the idea. Strengthening it. Not hurting your family. Not tearing down Christians, confusing them with your immoral ways.

When I think of Todd Bentley's fall, I don't think of him. I think about what we need to do. I'm talking about us prophetic- revival-healing-oriented people. I think we need to reconsider the gospel we preach. Todd's fall wasn't just his moral failure, it was the failure of the gospel he shared. It lacked something. Something vital. It lacked conviction. I think we can all learn some lessons from the revival in Kansas City that started years ago in Smithton as the Smithton Outpouring. Now this revival carries on at World Revival Church. Amazingly they see extraordinary healing almost weekly, radically changed lived, and no moral failures of leadership for the last 13 years of revival. Over the last year another surge of the power and presence of God has fallen there and people are coming from all over the world. Pastor Steve Gray doesn't preach one sermon there without conviction. Conviction is a safeguard. Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

The only person that is not in his right mind is YOU, sir. Sure, Todd B needs to be rebuked and shaken to his core for what he did. And I'm not leading any campaign to put him back in a public pulpit soon. How about if he proves his ministry by going to a thrid world country and feeding the poor first. He doesn't need a TV camera or a public pulpit to minister and preach. But to say that only someone out of their mind would give him a chance to speak at their church is the crazy statement. Why don't you go back to counting all your churches again. It will give you a self-induced euphoria that will continue to blind your eyes. Hippocrit.

As long as your bread and butter comes from the Gospel, compromise will occur, Todd is no different. He's just more obvious. Who will cast the first stone? The church is suppose to help the poor, how many poor does the "Church" really support? I agree divorce is rampant in the church and awful, but is he the only one? I didn't think Todd was legit from the get go, but who is? Try giving up your ministry "job" and work at a secular job and see if you still want to serve Jesus. Todd will survive. People support entertainment. People need to wake up and quit following men, read the Bible and take up their own cross. This Hollywood Christianity that we support is wrong, the people want a true relationship with the Lord but end up settling for a fake. Turn to Jesus.

I could not support Todd (an ex-occult power addict.) that was playing with a spirit of seduction big time...even though it touched many in truth along the way.Since his isses were not checked....many men who worked along side have done exactly the same to their own ministry and marriages :sigh: !!
Sorry, I had a lot of questions and am kinda long-winded: :o As Christians don't we all fall short of the glory? We all fall down, it's inevitable. We all should respond to the Holy Spirit and seek to turn away from our sin and get our walks right with God again. Do you really think that the world thinks everyone (or anyone for that matter) in ministry is so clean and holy? It's not that we condone sin, but since we all fall, we should keep in check our love walk and help one another to the cross gently when we stumble... should we not? I mean, isn't it by our love for one another that the world will know that we are His disciples?

And isn't it God who places people in ministry and positions of authority? And aren't we all accepted into the "Body of Christ" at the point that we receive the blood covering our sins. And do we restore people or is that God's job?

So to summarize from what I've read, all of us that serve in ministry are: - faithful (Tom Olson) - worthy of the calling (Albert Wiseman) - of high moral character, truthful, Christ honoring (stevehall) Hmmm... I'm definitely one of the unqualified. In fact, if we were able to peer from heaven into each of our lives (what goes on behind closed doors), wouldn't we all be disqualified? Isn't it not by our own merits, but that of Christ Jesus that makes us clean anyway?

There are definitely two sides to this story. The one that sees something in Todd worth salvaging and those who feel bitterly the pain he has caused to the Body and his family. I'm for restoration but also have trouble with seeing his remorse for what he did - little visits by kids traveling alone on an airplane don't give kids a dad. It's totally tragic. Having little holidays of fun together are not the same thing as parenting. Ministers should be examples. But bad things happen and you have to make the best of it. People who can get past the pain will give Todd grace. Those who can't, won't. At least God is faithful to the sinner who calls on Him. There is a paycheck for sin, maybe now, for some maybe later, but God is in the restoration business if He can get past people who block it. While I really hate what he did, I think it's wrong to block restoration. People are free to support what they want to, and they will choose. Who is casting the first stone?

Ever read Philip Yancey's, "What's So Amazing About Grace?" :-* I'm unfamiliar with Bentley's situation: whether or not he sought reconciliation with his wife, whether he divorced her or she divorced him. Quite frankly, I have a hard enough time keeping my heart lined up with God's will for me to have time to waste evaluating other people's hearts. I must admit that I am concerned about what seems to be an acceptance of ministerial divorces. So many pastors, prophets, and evangelists showing nothing of God's redemptive work in marriages... However, it's evident that we as a whole have a hard time showing the world God's redemptive work in general, so I probably shouldn't be to surprised. :-x We as a body sure have embraced the ministry of magnifying specks and casting stones!

The opening statement above contains the words that Todd had been returned to public ministry. If this is so then we should be most careful. One of the writers above says we should give him "a second chance" respectfully he already had a chance before this one. This is not a matter of Law or Grace or forgiveness or restoration, it is a matter of common sense. The Bible no where encourages us to place people in ministry who have consistently shown themselves unable to walk "worthy of the calling"Public and flagrant behaviour requires us to be able to publicly reccomend someone to the Body of Christ with confidence before we restore them to the Honor and calling of a ministry in the body of Christ

The Bible says that elders (leaders of the Church, pastors), should be men of high moral character and faithfulness in Christ. They are to be truthful and honor Christ. Restoration does not mean that if a person confesses and turns away from sin, that they can immediately be allowed to return to a leadership role (or that they ever should have been in a leadership role), but that they should be restored to fellowship with Christ and His Body. When a leader publicly demonstrates significant character issues, and intentionally leads others astray, it is prudent (and Christ-honoring) to require that person to be faithful in small things for an extended period of time (reasonably for years). If the person is faithful in Christ-likeness for whatever that agreed-upon period, then the person might be considered for additional responsibilities. Receiving cleansing from sin can be instantaneous; building trust and the privilege of leading can take many years.

Accountability has to be the norm, and it appeared as though Bentley sought it when he was ordained by Arnott, Joiner & Ann. Our inability to forgive and move on is a reflection of our culture, not our God. For crying out loud, we preach every week about bible characters who committed horrible acts that would certainly dethrone them from a place of prominence in todays standards, but we show them in a positive light. I don't want to sound like a "anything goes" person, but why should we be better than God and choose not to move on? Yeah, we know you messed up, but maybe you can teach us how to not mess up because you did it so well. Good for Rick Joiner. Apparently it's controversial to extend mercy.

No, George apparently you don't believe in redemption, you just believe in forgiveness (I would hope...) and you definitely don't believe in restoration! Todd is not ministering in public; he is still undergoing restoration and healing... Where in Scripture does it say in the Bible that you forfeit your ministry? And what 'sins' are those? You may have missed a few important Scriptures: "The gifts and callings of God are irrevocable (without repentance)..." "...if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him..." I'm not defending or condoning anything that Todd did or saying he should get back in public ministry right away... but he SHOULD be fully restored and should be given a second chance, just like anybody else... Jesus already paid for our sins; He took the punishment... we don't need to "punish" Todd more just to make us feel more self-righteous! God forgive Your church for not loving the way You love...

Read you bible sir especially the part where Jesus is explaining to Peter the rules of forgiveness.
;-) The Lord ordained offices and gave gifts as evidenced in Ephesians 4:11. The Lord gives gifts of discernment and prophetic words where an individual can be forewarned if something is not of God (as well as the written Word). If we don't regard the gifts and offices, we will reap what we sow. That being said, I have discovered that if a woman has a child out of wedlock (while in the church) or someone has a homosexual past, those are treated as "unforgivable".
