The Bible gives us many examples of how we should respond to our leadership. David refused to harm Saul because he knew not to touch the anointed. The Bible teaches us to love and obey the leadership, but never to "bless it or condone it". True prophets of God never blessed wicked leadership but rather, they went to the leadership with a "Thus saith the Lord" and many were imprisoned, even killed because they answered to a "Higher Leadership". I will always answer to a Higher Leadership. And as I, like the prophets in the Old Testament, see my country fall into the same wickedness because of the leadership (not just President Obama), my obedience will be first to God and second to our nation. If the two are not in agreement, then for me to live is Christ and to die is gain, words that the Apostle Paul wrote as the Apostle Peter and him were executed because of their unwavering obedience to God, not Caesar.

"watch our prayer language?" Why do people paint the love of Jesus as some hippie flower child type of love? That love means we just look at the destructive ways of some wayward, deceived or plain evil people and just cry saying its allright I love you and Jesus loves you? This same Jesus publicly chided the sadducees and pharisees. He publicly called King Herod "that fox". So where is this so called love that ignores all the evil of leaderships? Question is, would Jesus want you to "love" and pray "blessings" on Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Pol pot? In accordance with the whole new testament, we should pray for leadership. If however, these leaders are a obstruction for the Church and its mission, (like obama who supports many socialist, athiest style of policies) we can pray they be removed from office ( by proper legal means obviously) by losing the next election and such!

As a Christian, I do not hate President Obama. Disagreement, even passionate disagreement is quite different from hatred. We can passionately disagree with someone and not hate them. I do not have to hope he will fail. I compare this to a wayward child who ran away from home and God and is living like the prodigal son. A parent does not secretly hope their child will fail they know the child will fail and they are concerned for the child. In the same way, judging from President Obama's ideas I know he will fail and I am concerned for our country's future. We need to pray for our nation and vote in our upcoming midterm elections.

Pres. Bush proclaimed his faith as a Christian primarily on the Right and Conservative side of most issues and most Conservatives and many moderates identified with his overall belief system. Barak Husen Obama has clearly stated that he is a committed Christian. The Leftist Liberal Progressives identify with Obama's overall belief system so now they finally have the leader that they have always wanted. We should pray for our leaders regardless of whether they are an unbeliever, another religion, hypocritical, not born again, or struggling or solid Christian. We should always pray for the souls and health of our leaders, and their loved ones to understand the Truth of God's Word and receive wisdom for natural and spiritual decisions. WE CAN and SHOULD PRAY FOR or AGAINST certain agendas, policies, laws that are contrary to Christians leading a godly and peaceable lives. Wise Christians discern what the Word means regarding praying for our governmental, or spiritual leaders.

The Lord showed me that the Church of America is to be compared with the story of the Exodus. Most of Israel longed to return to Egypt. They did not want to go thru a time of recovery, of limited resources, hard times , face the unknown or wait for things to change; it wasn't fast enough for them. They longed for a return to where they had been, despite the oppression, bondage, destruction and hard labor. So the church today longs for a return to deceit, war, economic failure, favor for the wealthy, corruption and a cruel taskmaster for the poor and oppressed. Should we not repent, God may grant us our desires, as when we prayed that if only we had a "christian" president, America would be just fine, return to God and revival would break out..along with honor and integrity...I don't long for Egypt and am quite glad GOD blessed us with the Prez..and I pray the church wake up.

I find this subject very inlighting. I too agree with RT. And will just add the principle in which we preach: "Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that NO murderer hath eternal life abiding in him." Too "The first shall be last, and the last first." Any way we look at it; we all need prayer of deliverance.

I agree with RT as far as God does love Obama, and we are commanded to pray for him that he should not pass any law that would stop the preaching of the gospel that we may live in peace, but we do not pray that his administration will succeed or pray for his policies as many of them are anti Christian and anti God, did the blacks in South Africa pray for the aparthied rulers of that country no, they prayed that God would deliver them out, did the children of Israel pray for the rulers of Egypt no the prayed that God would deliver them and He did.
