Great idea, people still have a choice to give in the offerring plate or electronically. Many people do not carry cash but have a giving heart. why make it hard on people I dont think its any less of a sacrifice to give electronically or traditionally both require the same amount of sacrifice and generousity.

Yea, I understand the concern about credit cards, however I have some super smart financial friends and they use credit cards when they even have money to pay it back right then and there, but they use the credit cards in place of debit to build thier credit. Just a thought... I think this machine could be helpful in that case to those who prefer debit OR credit!

 I'm a little wary of credit cards for the financial reasons high-lighted in the article. But debit cards seem to be a practical/pragmatic response to the world we live in. There are times I forget my tithing envelope ~ Wouldn't it be better for the church to get its money a week early, than waiting for me to bring it the following week? I guess I'm seeing a "time value of money" issue here. As Tevye from "Fiddler on the Roof" said, "All of our traditions were new once..."

i'm not too keen abt credit cards... debit cards or ATM transfers are good... because it's with money that they have. and i like the idea of puting their receipts into the offering bag. there has to be a balance between convenience and habitual discipline... when something is too convenient, the impact of the discipline is no longer there. take for instance tithing via auto debit transfer, the same way you would do it for insurance. instead of becoming a truly sincere discipline of dedication to God, it becomes a convenient service... 'insurance for being a good Christian' so, for me, i still put my tithe into the bag, but if not, i wouldnt mind putting the receipt of the manual debit transfer into the bag, as a discipline action of dedication.
