I've heard this phrase far too often in church these days.. You are exactly correct. I feel, for example, that as Christians sometimes we use God's word as an explanation for our (perceivably) outlandish actions. Christians can be judgmental, and even us other Christians still fear their negativity, so we use God as a buffer. That isn't what God intended for us to do. 1) We as a whole need to be careful of being judgmental, and 2) we need to stand by our actions because they are our own- true faith is exactly that, standing by God regardless of the situation. If you truly believe the Lord is speaking to you, then be aware he is speaking TO YOU. Faith is a relationship, if you believe God spoke to you, defend yourself - don't throw Him out as a buffer, stand by your actions because you have faith. We as humans are sinful, saying "God told me to" does not negate that fact- faith in Christ is the only true salvation. Thank you for your post, I appreciate your wisdom.

When It comes God told me just makes sure it is God. God loves it when when we hear His voice. Jesus said the fathers sheep hear His voice. We must become sheep and be willing to look like fools for the king. You can never move in the prophetic with fear of man. The problem with the church today is we police the voice of God. The holy spirit is the police. We just have to listen and obey when we Know for sure it is God.

I believe God does speak, but it should never be about us(pride) it should be to give him Glory. The true way to know if you are hearing from God is that it agrees with his word, God would never contradict what he says or lie! I know he has spoken to me. I do say I believe God told me because I do not want to embarrass God or me when he did not! Another way to measure truth is, (if it is a directive)...did it come to pass? I thought what you said is true...if God said it...then it goes without saying but we should always Glorify God and acknowledge what he has done! He mainly speaks thru the Word of God, then also the Holy Spirit, Holy Men moved by God (pastors, evangelicals, teachers, preachers that are filled with the Holy Spirit), and our circumstances! Jesus said "my sheep hear my voice" well the enemy plants wrong ideas sometimes.I choose my words wisely and I say I believe or in my spirit got an impression. Our prayer life should be to listen and to ask!
