The U.S. has come a long way since the 1960's, but the state of the people of colour in the states is deplorable. What continues to take place, is that we seem to think everyone else is looking at us and comparing. Someone gets pulled over for violating a traffic law, and the police officer is labelled as conducting racial profiling. Is is not possible that if the 'person of colour' was breaking the law, that they wouldn't have been stopped? If we 'people of colour' would work to regard our homeland as our home and become involved with the very fabric of our country, much of what is referred to in this article would be eliminated. There should be a lessening of the term, African-American. "Africa is a continent not a country".

This article speaks the truth, and it ought make us free. We must free ourselves from the profound cultural ignorance. Our world and nation is unjust. As kingdom citizens it is our duty to provide for the poor and disinherited. Or else we succumb to the subconscious judgment that these dis- infranchised children of God somehow deserve less, as they are inherently deficient. We too often ignore the harsh realities of discrimination for fear of what it really says about us. As believers we must not ignore the importance of government and politics as an essential part of the world system that we are called to turn upside down. Just open your mind to consider the facts, pray about it, talk about it, and act in accordance with the principle of WWJD. a Christian of African decent in America

Tod has a point. Did the the Lord make a mistake when He told us to make disciples? Should we surmise that today we are called to focus on political action? God has given us an exclusive franchise to change men. Is it wise to focus not on our exclusive franchise and get into the flesh using the same tactics and approaches that befit the NRA, NEA, AARP or any other movement? In support of the potential impact that the church being the church can have consider what would happen if African Americans stopped having sex outside of marriage as a result of the Holy Spirit's work: 1) Poverty would be significantly reduced 2) HIV AIDS would virtually dry up in our community 3) The 60%+ of our women who are scarred by rape or molestation would not be wounded 4) The overwhelming majority of our children would grow up with mother and father. 5) Abortions would drop precipitously in our community. All of this and more from the elimination of one sin. Let's pray up revival

I prefer to refer to myself as Black, I am an American who happens to be Black. If one does no wrong and has no appearance of doing evil, he usually does not end up in prison. As Christians we are called to do good, love our neighbors and treat them as we want to be treated. Most people probably missed all the good that President Bush did for Africans in Africa which was noted by an African doctor on 60 Minutes a few weeks ago. Just realize that out of one blood came all nations and there are Black racists just as there are white ones. It is important that we pray for the heads of our country. We need to read our Bibles as much as view TV and listen to music not condusive to becoming closer to the Lord. Being a Christian is not a passive lifestyle but involves doing.

"It's time for the church (both black and white) to develop a unified political agenda. We need a shortlist of voting priorities that can be considered valid by both blacks and whites." Why???? Why is this the first "benefit" mentioned of racial unity in the body after you get done dismissing "racial unity for the racial unity's sake". How about the most prominent reason being to conquer hate and accurately reflect the Kingdom of God. Why must your solution turn into developing a political agenda which amounts to voting someone who professes Christ and we HOPE will carry out their promises to us but probably won't. Oh wait, that already happened when all you black pastors sold out and endorsed Bush. btw, I'm not giving black pastors a pass for voting Obama solely for racial reasons, either. Please provide solid Biblical support that God's people are specifically commanded to take up a political agenda with a secular government. todd
