Franklin Graham: Is There Hope for Revival?

Franklin-Graham-preachingCan revival come to America?

If revival can come to a wicked city like Nineveh in response to the preaching of God’s Word by Jonah, then I believe there is hope for our nation.

The results of the recent election show a definite move toward secularism and a shift away from Christian values and biblical morality. In some states, same-sex marriage was approved and marijuana was legalized. Unbelievably, whether it was apathy or indifference, there were millions of evangelical Christians who stayed at home and did not go to the polls. Had more Christians exercised their right and privilege to vote in this election, perhaps the outcomes on the national and state levels could have been quite different.

However, I believe that followers of Jesus Christ can still make a crucial difference in our country going forward.

I would like to call on Christians in America to especially pray for our president and all those in authority. God desires that “petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” (1 Tim. 2:1–2, NIV).

While I don’t think our nation can experience God’s hand of favor if we continue to turn our back on Him, I do believe that praying Christians who take a bold stand for Christ can help stem the rising tide of godlessness in our nation.

Because God is slow to anger and merciful to sinners, it is important that we do all we can to bring the message of repentance of sins and forgiveness through Christ to as many people as we can—and to do so with a real sense of urgency. We need to pray diligently for the lost, for revival in our own hearts and in churches, and for a turning of our nation to God.

Ninevah repented at the preaching of God’s Word, and what happened in Ninevah can happen in America today. We are launching the most aggressive and largest evangelistic effort in the history of our ministry—My Hope with Billy Graham. Instead of a citywide Crusade in a packed stadium, this outreach will occur all over America in living rooms like yours.

I’m inviting you to be a part of this, starting right now. Every great evangelistic effort begins with prayer, is sustained with prayer, and ends with prayer. So I urge you to make a list of unsaved friends and family, then begin praying regularly for their openness to the gospel and their salvation. What better Christmas gift could you give them?

Does anyone have the % of Christians who voted in favor of our current president? I am offended by those who equate Christianity with the offensive so- called Christian right including Franklin Graham whom I don't trust at all. We only need to follow scripture not any media hungry psuedo-political experts. Or angry often racist not so bright followers. We have a great opportunity for TRUE dialogue of Christian values. This needs to be amongst ourselves NOT for media.

[quote name="Grace"]God was not please with either candidate!!!! but to not vote because Romney was a mormon was a yes vote for Obama, and if you voted for Obama, then you'll get what you deserved.
Or if you stayed home and didn't vote, then it's no wonder we sent back to congress and house the same idiots who we couldn't stand before the election - something is wrong with this picture???
God's will is that Prez Obama is President (predestined chosen of God) and further more I don't vote 4 anyone whose foundation isn't Jesus Christ. It sounds like you are not a pleased that God's will be done. HIS ways or not our ways & God is saying to the Church when will you look at the heart for He search the heart and obviously Romney's heart other than that lying spirit does not reflect God's heart, romeny is not worthy of this calling. By the way why is your name "Grace"? So much anger in your words perhaps you should revisit the song "Amazing Grace."

And it sounds to me that you are not pleased as a Christian that God's will be done. God's ways or not our ways and God is saying to the Church when will you stop looking at the outer and look at the heart for He searches the heart so obviously Romney's heart has some things in it other than that lying spirit he has that says to God that he (romeny is not worthy of this calling.

I agree with you Christo, Christians need to pray for those in authority so it will be well with us in the land even if our perception is that they are idiots. God promises us that if WE turn from our wicked ways and pray he will heal our land. Christians need to truly follow what the word of God says and stop being motivated by ethnicity, party affiliation or political rhetoric.

Jesus cared about all people, not a particular percentage. Stop confusing civil rights with Christianity. Years ago I would not be able to marry my husband because of our race. Civil rights changed that. Stop confusing Christianity with the Republican Party. Christianity calls for us to show compassion for the widow and the poor, not just our wealthy associates. Stop being confused and bound by racism and hatred. People will think all Christians are racist and will be lost eternally.

Let's love our National Leaders, whichever Nation we are from and let's follow the Biblical injunction to pray for them. I was quite disappointed at the response of some of the Christian leaders at the way they responded to God's choice in the latest US election.

I just don't understand Christians. You carry on as if there was a Godly alternative in this election there were two evils. I don't support Obama position on those two contentious issues however, what is he to do as president of all the people in the USA - gay straight etc. Mit Romney is no saint and we as Christians are willing to embrace him and wink at everything else he does contrary to the word of God. I thank God that he is :-* The one who appoints a government and he is the one who removes them. I want to suggest that the lesser of the two evils won.

AMEN!!! I believe God did offer us an alternate, but 1/2 our nation of the dumbed-down ones, rejected it and voted in the very things most are complaining about........so now we all will suffer for the bad choices of some.
It is an honor to vote and more so as Christians, we should have done all we could to vote in godliness....even if it was only at the State and Local level.....staying home and not voting was not a Godly choice - sorry to say - we live in Wa State where rec marijuana was legalized and the gender of marriage was changed - it was the big counties like King, Whatcom, Skagit , etc. that voted in - E. Wa votes didn't seem to count for anything -
So now we have to pray even harder and more earnest for all those lost souls who will be lost unless there is repentance and revival.....please join me in prayer for this to happen in our nation, before the hand of God's judgment completely falls on us.........HELP!!!
